With reference to your letter of the 7th instant. I am directed by the Postmaster General to return to you the Enclosed
Ordinance passed by the Legislative Council of Hongkong intituled "An Ordinance to Amend Ordinance No 8 of 1862, intituled 'An Ordinance to provide for the management and Control of a Post Office for the Colony of Hongkong', and to request that
you will have the goodness to state to the Duke of Newcastle that, so far as the Department is concerned, there is no objection to this Ordinance being submitted to Her Majesty for confirmation.
